Tariffs and Duties
Understanding Tariffs and Duties (For U.S. Customers)
April, 2026
All orders are shipped from Canada. If you're based in the United States, here's what you need to know about cross-border shipping.
What are tariffs and duties?
Tariffs and duties are taxes applied by a country on imported goods. They’re assessed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and are not included in the price of your order or shipping.
Tariffs- All pieces from Annie Axtell are handmade in Canada with materials sourced in Canada and protected under the CUSMA agreement. NO TARIFFS apply; they are exempt.
Duties and Import fees- When placing an order to a destination outside of Canada you may be required to pay duties and taxes on top of your shipping fee upon delivery. The duties and taxes are determined by a countries government and Annie Axtell is not responsible for these additional charges.
Duty-Free Countries for Shipments from Canada
Due to Canada’s trade agreements and international de minimis thresholds, many countries allow duty-free imports of Canadian-made goods.
While eligibility depends on the item, order value, and local rules, customers in the following countries often receive their orders without additional duties:
-
United States
-
Mexico
-
European Union countries (via CETA agreement)
-
United Kingdom
-
Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Israel, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Costa Rica, Honduras, Jordan, Ukraine
Please note: Even in duty-free countries, your local customs office may charge VAT, sales tax, or a handling fee, especially on higher-value orders.
We do our best to provide accurate information, but customs policies can vary. If you have concerns about import fees, we recommend checking with your local customs office.
A few final notes:
-
We do not collect import fees or VAT at checkout.
-
If any charges apply, you’ll be contacted by your local courier or customs office.
-
We’re always happy to help clarify, but we don't have control over international customs policies.
