This edition is part of an exploration in using earth pigments. The depth and texture of the ochre and black in this image was achieved using limonite and carbon. The gesture drawing is inspired by composition typical in intaglio prints.

Annie Axtell’s images are made using ink and brushwork. An intentional choice to create lines that are sensitive and have slight movement. To be able to sink into the slight wobble or irregularity of her hand.
